Waiting on Wednesday – The Twelve by Justin Cronin

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that highlights highly anticipated upcoming releases.  Click the button to learn more!

Without a doubt, one of my most anticipated books this year is the follow-up to Justin Cronin’s The Passage.  This was one of my favorite reads last year.  A post-apocalyptic vampire tale that felt tailor made for a screen adaptation. The writing was so cinematic.  I was lucky enough to get an ARC for The Passage and the first page indicated that Ridley Scott had already purchased the screen rights for the book.  Before it was even published.  I cannot wait to see how Cronin follow’s this up with his second installment of the trilogy.

GOODREADS SYNOPSIS:

At the end of The Passage, the great viral plague had left a small group of survivors clinging to life amidst a world transformed into a nightmare. In the second volume of this epic trilogy, this same group of survivors, led by the mysterious, charismatic Amy, go on the attack, leading an insurrection against the virals: the first offensives of the Second Viral War.

To do this, they must infiltrate a dozen hives, each presided over by one of the original Twelve. Their secret weapon: Alicia, transformed at the end of book one into a half human, half viral—but whose side, in the end, is she really on?

The Twelve is due out in October 2012.

Tell me, what are you waiting for?

Happy Reading!

I know a lot of people who looooved The Passage, but every time I started it, I got intimidated by it’s length. I realize that is silly. Maybe, I’ll give it another go.

Oh, wonderful! I hadn’t heard of this one. I love learning about new reads (especially series that have already started, since I don’t have to wait as long for the sequels!)… Must pick up book one. Did you write a review? I would love to check it out….

I read this before I started the blog so I don’t have a review up but if I did, I would give it a high rating – 4.5/5 howls! I liked it that much. Thanks for stopping by!
