Literary Giveaway Hop – TANA FRENCH and the Dublin Murder Squad Series

October 27, 2012 Giveaways 63

I’m excited to be participating in the Literary Blog Hop!  I think it’s a wonderful way to highlight some of my favorite books that are outside the genres I normally review here at She-Wolf Reads.  I want to thank Judith over at her blog, Leeswammes, for hosting this fantastic event.  50 blogs are participating and I can’t wait to see what literary or non-fiction books are up for grabs.  Don’t forget to visit these fabulous blogs on the Linky list below!

My Giveaway

Before starting She-Wolf Reads I was obsessed with mysteries.  I read everything from Anne Perry and Stephanie Barron, to Barbara Neely and Ruth Rendell.  Without a doubt, my favorite mystery writer in recent years is Tana French.  She absolutely blew me away with her first book in the Dublin Murder Squad series, In the Woods.  It’s dark, atmospheric, at times claustrophobic…and she knows how to give you a good twist.  I pride myself on being able to see a lot of things coming and she really blindsided me in this one.  I’ve since read the next book in the series, The Likeness, and was equally as impressed.

So, as a way of sharing my Tana French love, I’m giving away one (1) book of choice, print or ebook (Kindle or Nook), from French’s Dublin Murder Squad series and one (1) $5 gift certificate from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or the Book Depository.

Somehow, despite being minorly obsessed with darkity dark dark crime fiction of the British Isles (ask me how Stuart MacBride turned me vegetarian again) I had overlooked Tana French? Thanks for the heads up!

I haven’t read many mysteries, though I’m trying to remedy that. One of my favourites though is The Beggar’s Opera by Peggy Blair, which follows an detective in Cuba. It’s the first in a series and I’m really looking forward to the rest!

  2. Kristi

Tana French is probably my favorite. Her writing is incredible. My favorite of this series is The Likeness. It blew me away! Thanks for the chance to win.

  3. tmgray

I keep meaning to read her books b/c I hear such great reviews but…well, other shiny books keep getting in the way! Thanks for reminding me about her!

UK’s Sharon Bolton is one of my favorite mystery writers, although I do like a lot of other writers too.

  6. Jenna

Thank you for the giveaway! I am honestly not a huge mystery reader, so I don’t know who a favorite would be. Jane Eyre has a nice element of mystery, so let’s just say Charlotte Bronte. 😉

  7. Dita

I`ve read mysteries by many different writers but I actually don`t have one to highlight as my all time favourite. Thanks for the giveaway! 🙂

  8. Braine

  14. Ellie

I’ve still not managed to get my hands on Tana French’s novels, isn’t that rubbish! I must remedy this soon, giveaway winner or not! I’m only just venturing into the crime fiction world, but so far Henning Mankell has been superb, and I loved Tess Gerritsen’s ‘Bloodstream’ too. Thanks for the chance to expand my crime repertoire by another author! 😉

  15. Melissa R.

I love mysteries. I’d have to say that my all time favorite mystery writer is Michael Connelly’s Harry Bosch series. But, I really like Alan Bradley’s Flavia de Luce series. I’ve also been listening to the Royal Spyness series lately and they’re pretty fun.
