Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by the blog THE BROKE AND THE BOOKISH. Every Tuesday, I love seeing these lists around my favorite blogs so I decided to jump into the fun and participate, too. Please click the graphic above to see what other blogs are posting their top ten today!
I’ve split this up into two sections – (1) unreleased books that I plan to read this fall and (2) books that have already been published, series I need to catch up on, etc. for the fall.
Unreleased Books I Need to Read This Fall
I became obsessed with this book the moment I read the blurb. This is one book for which I am anxiously awaiting its release.
2. Celtic Moon by Jan DeLima
I was intrigued by the fact that the central couple are separated and have a son. Oh, and werewolves are involved. And they live in a small town in Maine. Did I ever mention I have thing for small towns? Needless to say, I liked all of these elements so this is another one on my fall can’t-wait-to-read list.
3. My Lady Quicksilver by Bec McMaster
If you haven’t read the London Steampunk series, stop what you’re doing and go out and get Kiss of Steel. Right. Now. This book was, literally, a drug to me. I could not put it down. PNR with a dash of steampunk at its best. This new one releases in October and when it does, I think I need to take a day off, get some coffee (and then some wine) and devote myself to some good reading.
4. Autumn Bones by Jacqueline Carey
I really enjoyed the first book in this Agent of Hel series and I’m seriously looking forward to book two. Daisy Johanssen is a fun UF heroine to follow – she has a tail, I say! – and Carey’s take on the various supernatural communities is original and rich in storytelling potential.
5. The Scribe by Elizabeth Hunter
I read a novella by Hunter for another series and really loved it. This new series looks intriguing and very original.
Books I Need to Catch Up On This Fall
1. Gilded by Karina Cooper
Another steampunk world but this one has an opium addicted heroine. I enjoyed the first book in the series and I need to catch up and read this second installment this fall.
2. Tangled Threads by Jennifer Estep
I’m reading Venom right now and I can’t say enough about how utterly addictive this series is for a reader like myself. A strong heroine, great action, complex and dark characters, original world-building…why did it take me so long to read this series? Thanks to my blogging buddy, Braine @TalkSupe, we are reading Estep’s Elemental Assassin series together and I intend to promptly read this next book in the series as soon as I’m done with Venom.
3. Blood Trade by Faith Hunter
One of my favorite series and I’m one book behind. I need to read this before Black Arts, the next book in the series, releases in January.
4. Black Spring by Alison Croggon
Wuthering Heights and witchcraft? I really don’t think I need to say anything else.
10. Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black
This has gotten such mixed reviews among bloggers I follow that my interest is definitely piqued. It sounds like a wholly original world and take on vampires. I definitely plan to read this — especially while the weather is cold.
