The Creepy Classic Movie Challenge!

September 30, 2013 Creepy Classic Movie Challenge, General 12

Creepy-Classic-Movie-Challenge-6

Annie of Booked and Loaded had a great idea — create a movie challenge that centers on classic horror films just in time for the Halloween celebrations.  I was stoked when she invited me to join in on this project.  I’m a bit of a movie fanatic.  My husband and I used to go to the cinema every weekend, sometimes seeing two films a day.  That is until we had a baby.  The last film I saw in the theater was Oblivion with Tom Cruise.  Yes, that was six months ago and no, it wasn’t worth it.  So this challenge is perfect for me.  It will help me get my movie-watching mojo back.  Add to that horror/paranormal flicks?  Yes, I’m very excited about this one.

By the way, each film has to be at least ten years old .  Here’s my list of films I’m hoping to review on the blog over the next few months:

1.  Teen Wolf (1985)

2.  Wolfen (1981)

3.  An American Werewolf in London (1981)

4.  The Howling (1981)

5.  Gingersnaps (2000)

6.  Witches of Eastwick (1987)

7.  Practical Magic (1998)

8.  Vampire Hunter D (1985)

9.  The Hunger (1983)

10.  From Dusk Til Dawn  (1996)

11.  Poltergeist (1982)

12.  The Entity (1982)

What do you think of my list?  I feel like I need some older films but, what can I say, I’m a child of the ’80s!

Now, I’m throwing this back to you.  Make a list of your own and go visit Annie to sign up for the challenge!  The rules are simple, the challenge is fun and it runs from September 30, 2013 to January 30, 2014.  What are you waiting for?  Sign up!

Ellen, you’ve given me something to think about. Carnival of Souls sounds great as does The Haunting. I forgot about Cat People! I’ve heard so much about that version that I might have to add it to the list!

I am so glad you are helping me! I can’t wait to see what everyone is going to start watching and what they think about the movies! From Dusk till Dawn is one of my favorite movies, but I am slightly obsessed with Quentin Tarantino!!!

Wow, we have very similar taste. I love seeing Wolfen and The Entity up there too. A lot of people I talk to about movies haven’t even heard of them.
What about Gargoyles, and I believe the name of one about Peter Weller battling a rat in his apartment is called Origin, and Prophecy. And there’s The Hitcher and Nightbreed. Just a few I really liked.

What about the original Halloween with Jamie Lee Curtis? I have to watch that one every Halloween.

The Entity scared the crap out of me! Newly married and living in a new house that had strange sounds and get home at midnight after the movie. Hubby wasn’t allowed to go very far! LOL!!!

LOL! I felt that way after seeing Silence of the Lambs and coming home to a dark, empty house. I saw The Entity at way too early of an age and it scared me to death. I put it on the list to watch it again and see if it holds up in fear factor now that I’m older. It really is a creepy movie.

What a fun challenge, Lee. How about Dead Alive by Peter Jackson? Man I’ve been trying to watch that one forever and it just hasn’t happened. I was somewhat unimpressed with An American Werewolf. Perhaps I saw it too late in life but I did not find it all that scary. What about The Thing (Kurt Russell) or the original Carrie?
