Darkest London is one of my all-time favorite paranormal steampunk series and I am excited to host this stop on the tour for its latest release – SOULBOUND!  Author Kristen Callihan is here to give us her Top Five inspirations for this phenomenal series in addition to offering a giveaway.  Please don’t forget to enter your name at the end for a chance to win a copy of SOULBOUND!

1.  The Amelia Peabody mysteries by Elizabeth Peters. Before I wrote FIRELIGHT, I was addicted to this series. I loved the idea of this Victorian couple, working together to solve mysteries, and bickering and bantering and having a ball while they did it.
2.  Anne Rice’s earlier books. I completely devoured them. And fell in love with the lush use of language, and the vivid, rich imagery.
3.  Sherlock Holmes books. Victorian London, murder most foul, hacks, and alleyways. Yes, all great fodder for me.
4.  London itself. Often I’ll think of famous landmarks or buildings in London to use as a setting and ideas pop up.
5.  Fairytales, myths, and legends. SOULBOUND, for instance, pulls from Persephone, as well as a number of Irish myths.

I’ve just read SOULBOUND and loved it!  Stay tuned for my review next week and enter the giveaway below for your chance to win a copy!

About Kristen Callihan

Kristen Callihan is a child of the 80’s, which means she’s worn neon skirts, black-lace gloves, and combat boots (although never all at once) and can quote John Hughes movies with the best of them. A life long daydreamer, she finally realized that the characters in her head needed a proper home and thus hit the keyboard. She believes that falling in love is one of the headiest experiences a person can have, so naturally she writes romance. Her love of superheroes, action movies, and history led her to write historical paranormals. She lives in the Washington D.C. area and, when not writing, looks after two children, one husband, and a dog — the fish can fend for themselves.
